Maximum power

Unread post by Santacruz » Mon Apr 22, 2019 3:44 am

Hello,
Quite sometime back I bought your 18fet 7kw controller with built in blue tooth.
I am still in the process of building my bike, but am getting quite close to finish.
I have a question about the power handling of the controller as I am a little confused.
It stats 70amp max and 200amp phase current.
Is this 70 amp the max, or can it take short bursts at a higher rate.
On my daily bike I have a small kelly controller that is 50 amp continuous and can do 120amp for 20s.
This replaced a BAC0501 that I had, which also ran at 50amp continuous with 100amp for 10s.
So is this controller capable in the same way, as this would be useful in calculating my battery pack build.
If so, could you let me have the figures.
Thanks

It can take short bursts up to 100A, but needs to be configured for no more than 70A.
For the battery, it's always a good idea to exceed the controller specs. Thinking 80A would be a good number to target.
