What bike would you recommend for a first-time e-bike owner, one that works well on mild-moderate off road conditions as well as on road around town. I also would like one that is quick and has a relatively high top speed. Thank you. Answer:
For the first bike you don't want a powerful bike as they require motorcycle riding skills and safety precautions. Powerful ebikes should really be treated as motorcycles from the safety and riding skill perspective. For a beginner ebike owner, I would recommend a simple bike with a hub motor or a middrive (like Bafang or similar) with power levels of up to 1kw.
