initial setup: brake visual indication

Unread post by cladden » Thu Apr 11, 2019 7:23 pm

I'm trying to verify the brake is wired correctly.

When I bridge the brake EBS- wires together, I see nothing different on the screen.

Is there a visual indication of the brake engaged in the iOS app?

I have the brake connected according to the "negative" approach as documented here:
http://powervelocity.com/blog/2019/02/1 ... subsystem/

My setup:

15KW module on the branch for tests
Single EBS- wire connected to the outside pin of the bluetooth module
Battery is connected
Ignition is ON
iOS app is connected
No motor phase or hall connections
Throttle is connected and reports position - resting position sits at value 0.8 - needs to be calibrated?

There is not indication in the app about brakes but that may be a good idea to add. It can be done via software update.
The easiest way to check if brakes work is to raise the wheel and spin with the throttle then engge brake and see if it cuts off power.

The throttle position of 0.8 is normal. Most hall sense throttles have this as a starting voltage and it goes up to 3.3v.
No calibration required. It will self calibrate when you twist it.

As an aside on the Bluetooth module documentation, I think there’s a mistake in the throttle pin diagram where labels are overlaid onto pictures of both sides.

The throttle pin labels on the upper and lower pictures cannot both be true.

I think the lower picture labels are correct and the upper labels are wrong/copy pasted from the lower picture. Further evidence of it wrong on the upper picture is the mating black connector with a red wire that is not labeled as 5V.

Yes, you are correct. The upper picture has reversed labeling. The colors are correct though: red - 5v, black - Gnd, green - signal.
We'll fix that. Thank you for catching.
